Coming soon: HD over cable with Beyond TV
BrentEvans: SiliconDust HDHomeRun Qam tuner for Beyond TV
Woo hoo! Hopefully this is legit, and we see native support for the HDHomeRun in Beyond TV soon.
I am currently watching TV using a HDHomeRun with BeyondTV
It will take a week or so to formally finalize.
For those not familiar with the HDHomeRun, it is a networked dual-tuner device that can capture unencrypted cable channels, including HD shows. For many, including myself, this means a more reliable method for viewing and recording HD shows since popular TiVo-like PC software (ex. Beyond TV, Windows Media Center, Sage TV, GB-PVR, Media Portal, etc) only supports capturing HD shows via an antenna. The HDHomeRun currently works with all these software packages, except Beyond TV, which is my program of choice.
I’m currently using this device with Beyond TV thanks to a 3rd party add-on, but it does not allow you to view LiveTV with it. This new driver will fully integrate the HDHomeRun with Beyond TV, allowing people to view LiveTV and record shows with it.
